Birthday Feathers

Good morning! Last week my oldest turned...(I feel like I need a drumroll here...) THIRTEEN!!! Still can't believe I'm the mother of a teenager now! She is one amazing girl though I tell you - I feel very blessed to be her mom!

Anyway, this birthday called for a more grown-up card for sure, so I put together this using a few of her favorite colors and some goodies from Lil' Inker Designs:

I love the feather's from Fancy Feathers Stamps - I used a couple colors of SSS dye ink and my MISTI to create the two tone color effect. I first stamped them in a lighter mint shade, then rocked a bit of the darker color onto one side, and stamped them again - using the MISTI to perfectly place it so that it stamped over the top exactly where I wanted it. I love that it gives an ombre effect! Next I fussy cut out the feathers and added a bit of distress ink to the edges.

I layered together some woodgrain pattern paper with a beautiful teal chevron stripe from Lil' Inker's Tribal Chic paper pad - using angles, a corner rounder, and a doily for some interest. Heat embossed the sentiment in white, added some white paint splatters, attached the feathers with foam adhesive, tied on some jute twine, and finished off with a few Pretty Pink Posh gold sequins.

Here are links to the products I used on this including affiliate links where possible. Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!!

  1. Definitely very pretty! Whenever I hear fussy cut I think "uugh". Your edges look so smooth.
